So you are contemplating studying abroad in Prague? Fantastic. Let me tell you my top 5 reasons for studying abroad in Prague.
1. Prague's History
So before you start calling me lame and a nerd let me explain: I am a nerd. But I am also right. Prague’s history is fraught with difficulties. People were literally thrown out castle windows! Trust me its fascinating, full of betrayal and intrigue. Imagine Game of Thrones (without the dragons) this is what Prague was built on. Come on, its pretty cool.
This the real-life window where MULTIPLE people were thrown out of at the Prague Castle.

2. Czech Beer
So some of you may not drink and if so reasons 1, 3, 4, and 5 are all great reasons for why you should study abroad in Prague. However, if you do drink then you are in luck. Drinking is the Czech's pastime and nothing is as delicious or frankly inexpensive as Czech Beer. Personal favorite has to be Pilsner. Found in any bar any where in Prague, this delicious and cheap beer has the makings for a crazy night out or a cozy night in. It turned this wine loving gal into a wine AND beer lover. Its that good.
This is it! This is a Pilsner.

3. How cheap Prague is
Look lets be honest, studying abroad can get pricey. However, Prague's relative cheapness is a godsend for students who want to have adventures but also not go into debt. The Koruna (CZK) aka the Czech version of the dollar against the euro, the dollar and the pound is very weak. That means more bang for your buck. I am not exaggerating, often the beer is cheaper than water. So its just economical that you drink Pilsner!
This is a picture of Koruna, there are also coins that are way more useful than the penny:

4. Location, location, location
When you study abroad you should love the city you are in, but you should also take advantage of studying abroad and having all those weekends free by traveling to other cities and countries. Prague's location is perfect for this! Despite being behind the "Iron Curtain" it is located in central Europe. Inexpensive flights, trains and buses are available from Prague to any city you can think of! Want to go to Venice - easy! Want to go to Athens - easy! Want to go to London - easy!
Below are two maps: one is over Europe and the other one highlights exactly where the Czech Republic is:

5. Variety
Possibly my favorite thing about Prague was simply wondering the city. Partially due to its turbulent history, Prague's architecture changes greatly depending what street you are on. You can see where Mozart composed operas in one street and the next street can have be a swaying glass building (known as the Dancing House). The variety in food, music, museums and general street life is amazing and unique.

Now I know I could write 500 reasons why you should study abroad in Prague, but I hope my top 5 reasons for studying abroad in Prague has whetted your appetite for more!
